This was written on 18-03-2024 because I passed out dead asleep early.

This is an update of the stereo haul. I'm primarily a headphones user on account of usually living with others, so when the haul included a full surround sound set of speakers I originally assumed i would have to just test them out another time as I dont own any speaker wire, however, I had forgotten that I got 2 big ass spools of coaxial cabling a year prior for $5 with the smaller of the spools having about 200ft~ of wire. photo of a large spool of wire
Hater side tangent: while I'm not an audiophile and have pretty low audio standards, I didn't know much about audio equipment and if coaxial cables would even work that well so I spent some time looking into it and seeing if anyone online had done it themselves (not really outside of in-wall installments). What I did find however were many forum posts of these audiophile dipshits spouting the dumbest shit directly out of their unwashed asses -- "coaxial wouldn't work, speaker cable is specifically designed for speakers and trying to use coaxial would be like trying to make an apple pie with oranges" "coaxial wire has a resistance of 75-150 Ohms, you will likely not be able to even hear your speakers with it" "coaxial is solid core wire, and you cannot use solid wire for speakers. Theres a reason why all speaker cables use stranded, and it's because solid wire does not transmit signals as cleanly as stranded" -- it's no fucking wonder theyre always being scammed by expensive hoaxes.

Anyway on the main topic again, without much else to go off of I just assumed speaker cables are just ordinary stranded wire labelled speaker wire (probably true) which means solid wire would be fine aswell, now the coaxial spool i had technically included 2 wire types, a 18 awg normal coaxial, and an additional 16 awg attached to the outside of it with it's own insulation. I ended up just seperating the full 200ft of the two wires and respooled them seperately, learning in the process why nobody uses solid wire for these sorts of applications (IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING TO DEAL WITH). After a few hours I had finished the respooling and was ready to use them to test the speakers, now, you would imagine that using the smaller cable would be much more convenient, and it would, but I wanted to save it and instead use the larger, heavier, coaxial cable because what the fuck else am I going to use it for. Anyway the larger cable was a pain to use but thankfully it seemed that all of the speakers were functioning, however I did not yet want to hook all of them up on account of the larger cable being a pain so I left it for another day (tomorrows post).
