I had surgery recently and it brought back many past thoughts on the USA's healthcare, none of which particularly good. I've been to hospitals many times before and its very easy to fall into rumination over the quality of care here, it's enough to drive someone to tears thinking about it for too long. Many quirks of our healthcare have become somewhat normalized to most, aside from the ludicrous pricing, but it's all just incredibly bleak.
The unimaginable greed of capitalism coupled with americas imperialism taking priority has just been gnawing at the entire concept of healthcare, it's a very similar situation to the current state of teaching where it's becoming more and more considered menial customer service than a respectable profession to work in. I normally treat them as normal human beings and without doing anything I have often been praised for being an incredible patient, the bar is so unimaginably low. The work stories you hear from nurses are horrifying, 1:15 ratios, singular nurses taking care of the entire floor for a shift, new grads being charge nurses due to a lack of staffing, dozens of patients lives being in their hands, combined with all the horrific patient stories, all the while they're paid nothing, I can't imagine how things can continue like this.
